  • What Singers and Parents are Saying

"I’ve taken voice lessons from Deborah for a couple of years beginning in the summer going into my freshman year in high school to now as I approach the summer going into my junior year. She made me feel comfortable and when I’m taking lessons I feel like she is someone who is not judging me but cares deeply about making me a better singer and building my confidence. From when I started taking lessons with her to now I’ve seen tremendous improvements in not only my vocal control and vocal abilities, but also my confidence as a singer and my confidence walking into the audition room. She’s encouraged me to pursue opportunities and take my singing to the next level in a very supportive way. I would recommend her for any age performer."
-Hugh F., Class of 22 Rochester, NY

"I received private voice lessons from Deborah before auditioning for colleges to be a voice major. She helped me choose repertoire, work on my technique and my overall confidence. I ended up getting into 4 top music schools and often returned to Deborah for lessons whenever possible. She is very kind and supportive. Deborah often found various ways of explaining technique until I understood. Her musicality and interpretation skills helped me experience new life within the music. I would highly recommend taking lessons from Deborah."
    - Ashley C Class of '15 London, UK
"I received private voice lessons from Deborah in the past. The enthusiasm she has for her work is infectious. I highly recommend her."
    - Hannah S, adult Miami, FL
"I have learned a lot of things about my voice that I would not have noticed without Ms. Conquest."
    - Ashleigh, College Student, Class of 20
"Deborah is so supportive of her students. She gives feedback in a positive way so you can learn and grow. It's never harsh, her feedback is always solid and clear so you know exactly how to improve. Deborah is kind and honest, and I love that because it helps me learn and push myself. Before recitals or a big performance she works with you, and will never make you nervous. She really prepares her students in the best way. Deborah is very nice and funny too, she is also very interesting as a person. I feel very lucky that she is my voice teacher."
-Livy R, Class of 23, Rochester, NY
“I started lessons with Deborah as an adult with prior experience performing in musical theater, choral and a cappella groups, and 5 years of private lessons. Although I came with this experience – and, albeit, limited knowledge of proper vocal technique -- Deborah taught me so much; such as vocal anatomy and physiology, how one produces sound, how to adjust one’s form to produce a higher quality sound, why posture is so very important in vocal performance, how to focus one’s breath to produce a pure and healthy sound, how to inject emotion into a song, and so much more. What’s more, Deborah is a bright, inspiring, and supportive individual with a clear passion for music…and she will rub off on you! Her passion has re-ignited my own, and I will forever be grateful. If you are looking for a vocal coach, look no further. I HIGHLY recommend Deborah Conquest. She has been, hands down, the best vocal coach I have ever worked with.”
    -Stevie K., adult, Muncie, IN
"As a vocal teacher, Deborah is the whole package. She is kind and encouraging, helping those newer to the vocal arts find the confidence to express themselves while having such a wealth of knowledge as to impress even the seasoned singer. I knew I was in good hands with Deborah because she not only knows how music works, but how the human voice works - and the actual anatomy and physics that goes into it. Despite her expertise, she is very down-to-earth and friendly, which was especially important to me as someone who had never received professional vocal instruction. Deborah was patient and supportive, and I definitely feel that my vocal skills, as well as my confidence, have increased."
    -Jennie, adult, Boston, MA
"I came to Deborah Conquest as voice student during a time when I was really unsure of my vocal capabilities. Not only did she help to restore my confidence in myself but she enriched me with long lasting musical knowledge. Her style of teaching is very informative and encouraging, she will constantly push you to achieve excellence. It is because of that push that I was able to gain acceptance into a Graduate school program for classical voice. For that, I am forever grateful!"
-Jessica J., Masters of Music, NYU Steinhart School of Music Class of 22
“My daughter has been taking voice lessons with Deborah for the past two years, and my only regret is that she didn’t start with her sooner! Deborah is an outstanding vocal coach and a great musical theater mentor. Deborah’s experience was invaluable when it was time for my daughter to navigate through the college audition process. Such a caring and knowledgeable teacher. Highly recommend!”
    - Christine, parent of a college-bound voice/opera studies major
"Deborah has been instrumental in helping my daughter feel confident and prepared for auditions and performances. Deborah not only has the musical experience and expertise but also the knowledge of the professional and community theater world - something that many parents don’t have including me. We appreciate her guidance and, of course, the musical education she provides my child. Highly recommend."
-Julie, parent class of '26, Rochester, NY
"Miss Deborah has transformed our young theatre enthusiast into a star! As parents we are in awe of the progress our daughter has made in just a few months. We highly recommend Deborah Conquest Vocal Studio!"
    Sarah, parent class of '29

"I have worked with Deborah for just a small period of time and have already seen a huge difference and an impact with my singing. She has taught me how to take care of my voice and perform to the best of my abilities. I have learned simple warm ups that have made big adjustments in my singing overall. She has helped me feel very prepared for my performances and my abilities to succeed. She really cares about her students success and achievements."
